Collaborative HIV/AIDS Policy Research Centers
Overview
In 2012, grants totaling $4.2 million over four years were awarded to support two Collaborative HIV/AIDS Policy Research Centers. The Policy Research Centers are comprised of multi-disciplinary teams of investigators working in partnership with providers, consumers, advocates, and policymakers to address HIV-relevant policy informed by objective and rigorously conducted research.
The Centers
The California HIV/AIDS Policy Center is a collaboration between the University of California, Los Angeles and AIDS Project Los Angeles, which includes the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center and Charles Drew University as subcontracting partners.
The AIDS Policy Research Center is a collaboration between the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at the University of California, San Francisco and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation which includes Project Inform as a subcontracting partner.

Strategies
The Policy Research Centers conduct Longer-Term Policy Research Studies and Rapid Response Research Studies. The Longer-Term Studies is in-depth research conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of investigators. Examples include a cross-site evaluation of CHRP's Patient Centered-Medical Home Demonstration Project and analyzing Medi-Cal and Medicare data to determine factors associated with the cost of HIV care.
Rapid Response Research Studies are conducted in a two week to six-month time period addressing emerging issues. Results from this approach to research are captured in the policy briefs below.
